Week 7 Round Up - Sunday 14 October

We start this week with Round 2 of the Kent County Cups, and as WESFA managed to supply 2 referees for these cups again, sadly it didn’t help The Oddfellows Arms who fell to Groundhoppers by three goals to one. in the Sunday Premier Cup. In the Sunday Trophy goals from Douane West (2), Leon Nicholas and Donovan James see FC Royals keep the WESFA flag flying with a 4-2 win at Dartford Destroyers. Also progressing are Turk Ocagi Bermondsey, after Carl Obiltey gave a 5 star performance sending them through with all five goals in a 5-0 win over Club Langley. No such luck for Erith Athletic or Long Lane who both depart the competition at the second hurdle. Erith go out 5-1 at home to Greencourt, while Long Lane narrowly miss out 4-3 at Farnborough OBG.

One rearranged tie in the London FA Sunday Junior Cup sees Heath bow out at the hands of Wheatsheaf Athletic, with a 6-1 defeat.

In the Plumstead Challenge Cup, Third Division hosted Premier Division as Woolwich 90 travelled to Vanbrugh and in what was a much closer game than either side could have expected the Premier Division side progress 2-1 thanks to goals from Danny Edwards and Phillip Laborg. Vanbrugh had a consolation through Sam Kjeseth. Woolwich 90 now face Welling Town A in round 2.

In the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division, Jordan McTigue, Taylor and Tony Robinson were on target as Welling Town A secured a 3-1 win over St Michaels. Terry Fletcher was on target for St Michaels. Jam remain on the tails of Welling Town with a thumping 5-0 win over Footscray Lions, Myles Alexander scoring 4 times in the process. Richard Akinlade with the other. Burrage Blues get their first league point of the season with a 1-1 draw with Barnehurst Ben Short on target for Barnehurst but nothing recorded again for Burrage Blues. Also sharing the spoils were Sabanoh 97 and Woodside Celtic with a 2-2 draw. Dan Emmett and Jon O’Mara with the goals for Woodside while like Burrage Blues nothing is recorded for Sabanoh.

In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, leaders Springhill United hosted YouTubers Under the Radar and got brought down to earth with a very large bump. Under the Radar coming out 5-1 winners with Emmanuel Brown (2), Thomas Ngegba (2) & Tolulope Jonah all on target. Patrick Haverty on target for Springhill who remained top on goal difference from Bayswater RK who didn’t play. Two goals a piece from Dan Lott and Darren Wynne cancelled out Nathan Brown’s goal and gave South East Athletic Maroon a 4-1 win over Orpington Eagles who remain rooted to the foot of the table. Catford Wanderers are in 5th spot after a 2-1 win at Blackfen United.

In the Danson Property Services First Division, leaders FC Plasma remain top despite going down 3-2 to Mottingham Park Rangers. Stuart Jordeson hit a brace with Adam Ezrouki also on target. David Hunt was on target twice for Plasma but it wasn’t enough. Junior Reds Athletic couldn't take advantage and remain in second spot after South East Lads grab their first win of the season upsetting the form book with a 4-2 win. Brad Glennon scored twice, John Sharp and Thomas Grant getting the others to get South East Lads off the mark. Brandan James and Ben Malyon on target for Junior Reds. Kent Wanderers are 5th after a Daniel McGoldrick hat-trick helped them to a 4-3 win at SEL. Chris McGinty grabbed the 4th, while Theo Jones (2), Hugo Clark and Thomas Duggan were on target for SEL. Phoenix Knights form continues to improve with a 5-3 win at FC Forza, Jack Cox bagging three, Rob Dennis and Zack William-James one each for Phoenix Knights. Jon Dyson, Matthew Woolf and Shakeel Zuberi on target for FC Forza. Woolwich Spartans and Bostall Rangers share eight goals in a thriller at Hall Place. Danny Harris and Daniel Hassett both scoring twice for Bostall Rangers while Luke Newman did the same for Spartans, with Nick D’Cruze and Eni Penev also on target.

In the ABA Technical Division Two, Greenwich Park Rangers remain top of the tree with a 2-0 win at Abbeymead. Frankie Church and Charlie Gaish with the goals. Russellers remain close behind after a 4-2 win over Meridian Sports thanks to goals from Daniel Sheppard, Bradley Shepherd, Rhys Edwards and Craig Newell. Woolwich Royals are 3rd despite going down 3-0 at Bexley Athletic, Rio Douglas (2) and Oliver O’Brien with the Bexley goals. Beacons are closing in just behind with a 9-0 win at Advent Royals. Ben Hurley (2), Josh Harrison (2), Sonny Brown, Taylor Lewis, Michael Fenn & Aaqil Githae all among the goals. Baldon Sports are 6th after they also fell to defeat, at Danson Albion 3-1.

In the Summerhill Music Division Three, AFC Kingfisher are top to the lot, but were held at home to a 2-2 draw against 4th placed Peckham Rye. David Scott and Robert Webster with the goals for the home side, but nothing recorded for Peckham Rye. Baldon Sports Reserves close the gap at the top to just goal difference with a 4-2 win over Seven Acre Sports. Billy Hosmer (2), Joshua and Joseph Evans on target for Baldon, while Stephen Alexander and Sam Bowhay got the goals for Acre. Orpington Eagles Reserves are up to 5th spot with a 4-3 win over Lessa FXI. Kemal Pala (2) and Byron Bourne and Gary Pryde with the Orpington goals. Hasan Gunduz, Jordan Hector & Keith Miller for Lessa. Finally Springhill United Reserves got their season off the mark with their first win coming in the form of a 7-1 win at bottom of the league AFC Sporting Greenwich. Rhys Tansley (2), Osric Richards, Dominic Verrillo, Jacob Unwin, Issac and Moses Omoruyi all on target, with Jack Kiely getting the sole AFC Sporting Greenwich strike.

Week 29 Update - Sunday 19 March

Well as already reported Woolwich 90 made it to the London Sunday Junior Cup Final with a 3-2 win over Catford Wanderers. James Noel, Chika Mkala and a David Espanosa penalty were the heroes for the WESFA side.

Congratulations as well to Sabanoh 97, as they make it to the Dewar Shield final to defend their title after a 3-1 win over last seasons final opponents Springhill United. Two goals from Rashid Kamara and a Bankole Koroma strike was enough to send Sabanoh 97 into the final at Dartford's Princes Park Stadium on 30th April against Club Santacruzense De Londres (for tickets, click here).

Congratulations also to Eltham SF as they secured a 2-1 win over Cutty Sark (Thamesmead) to send our very own YouTube sensations to the Win Jones Memorial Cup Final at Welling United on May 7th. Their opponents will be decided on Sunday 26th March between Danson Albion and this season's unbeatable side Woolwich 90, tickets for this final will be released on Sunday when the opponents are known.

Goals galore in the Plumstead Challenge Cup, as AFC Croydon Town of the Croydon Municipal League fell to WESFA Premier Division Side Long Lane 6-4. A four goal haul from Jack Webber along with strikes from Johnny Wright and Jack Edwards sending the WESFA side through to a semi final at Club Santacruzense de Londres.

In the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division just the one game as Club Santacruzense de Londres travelled to Jam and came away with a 2-0 victory to close the gap to Sabanoh 97 at the top to 9 points with 3 games in hand, but with so many Cup games to play, will they have the time to finish their league campaign? Sergiomar Da Silva and Kruma Cruz were the scorers for the visitors.

In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, Phoenix Knights missed the chance to go top above Woolwich 90 with a 3-3 draw with Plumstead AFC. Two goals from Craig Newell and one from Diego Claro were enough for the visitors to come away with a share of the spoils and deny Phoenix top spot. Woolwich Spartans leap above Danson Albion into 4th spot after a 3-2 win, with 2 goals from Adam Roberts and one from Ben Read. Two goals from Dan Lott and another from Pod Biggane were enough to secure Maroon XI a 3-1 win over 7th placed Bostall Old Boys, while Danny Richards and Patrick O'Connor were on target for Junior Reds Spartans in a 2-1 win over Eltham Phoenix.

In Division One Woodside Celtic remain top after a 6-3 win over Bexley Athletic, two goals a piece from Dennis Williams and John O'Mara along with Bradley Killick and Rob Merone strikes keep the home side above second placed Old Roan Red Lions who themselves secured a 5-1 win over Abbey Wood, Sill Benson, Tommy Eades, Tom Lawrance, Danny Lawson and Giles Wilmore on target for Old Roan. New London remain 3rd after goals from Jason Hammett (2) and Arlindo Covington secured a 3-1 win over Teviot Rangers.

In Division Two, leaders Kent Wanderers game against Borussia Heath was called off as the away side couldn't field a side, so 3rd placed Bayswater RK closed the gap a bit more with a 3-1 win over Junior Reds Athletic, Joey White, Ryan Styles and Bradley Johnson were on target for Bayswater. The day's other Division Two game saw a Danny Nicholl goal secure a 1-0 win for AFC Kingfisher over Sutcliffe Rangers.

In the Bert Holloway Cup, East Group, Steven Armstrong and David Coker scored for FC Plasma as they secured their first victory in the competition to be early leaders with a 2-1 win over Mottingham Park Rangers.

In the Leader Trophy South Group, two goals from Ashley Care mean Springhill United Reserves are the early leaders on alphabetical order after a 2-1 win over Vanbrugh, which Woolwich Royals are in second spot with a 2-1 win over Lessa FXI with goals from Yavor Hristov and Nimet Haxhiu.

In the Leader Trophy West Group, Mottingham Forest are the early leaders after a 3-1 win over Meridian Sports courtesy of two Jake Scott strikes one each side of a James Moore goal.
