Week 32 Update - Sunday 9 April

Mottingham Park Rangers take the headlines this week. Our first cup final, the 3rd Supreme Engraving Fair Play Invitational Cup Final, previously won by Maroon XI and Woodside Celtic took place at Welling United FC between Mottingham Park Rangers and Vanbrugh. In front of a crowd of around 140, Division 2 Vanbrugh took a shock lead when Rhys Paterson latched on to a through ball and slid the ball into the net early in the second half. Despite a siege on the Vanbrugh goal towards the end of the match when the kitchen sink was being thrown, it was looking like Mottingham Park Rangers just weren't going to get the ball in, until that was until the 6th minute of stoppage time, when a corner was swung in and up popped David Ricketts to nod the Division one side level with the last kick of the scheduled 90. Another 30 minutes couldn't separate the sides, and Mottingham Park Rangers held their nerve from the penalty mark to win 4-3 on Penalties.

Plumstead Challenge Cup, Semi Finals also being held and as already reported the finalists are now known. At Bexley Business Academy, Abbey Wood (reinstated into the cup due to Baywater being removed for fielding an ineligible player in the last round), faced London & Kent Suburban League leaders Baldon Sports. Despite a Lee Lower goal, Baldon proved too much Bilney, Webb and Billy Dolby on target for the LKSL side, who will now face Long Lane in the final after two goals from Jack Carthy and one from Tom Rush saw Long Lane record a 3-0 win at Club Santacruzense de Londres and surely a first for CDSL, leave them with 2 defeats in as many matches. The PCC Final takes place on 14th May 2:30 at Welling United FC. Tickets can be found on our Cup Final tickets page.

In the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division, just the one game which saw Jam record a 3-2 win over Footscray Lions which leaves Jam in 3rd spot, 3 points off of 2nd spot. No goal scorers recorded for either team so far.

In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, Woolwich 90 continue to dominate with a 5-0 win over bottom of the table Plumstead AFC. A hat-trick from Danny Edwards plus goals Joe Baker and Luv Kapoor doing the damage. With 2nd and 3rd spots not in league action, Woolwich Spartans are 4th after a rampaging 7-2 win over Eltham Phoenix. Billy Granger scored 3, Adam Roberts 2, Jack Oliver and Al Ameen Amodu scoring for Spartans, which Callum Claxton and Perry Godward were the scorers for Phoenix. Eltham SF are in 5th, with a welcome return from injury for Manny Brown who got himself on the scoresheet, plus Charlie Gaish and Zak Petkov scoring. Elsewhere 7th & 8th spot Danson Albion and Maroon XI shared 4 goals and the points.

In Division One Woodside Celtic are nearly champions after a 3-1 win over New London leaving only Abbey Wood in 6th spot with a mathematical chance of catching them. 3 points in their next game seals it. Two goals from Jon O'Mara and one from Bradley Killick were too much for New London for whom Tyson Holmes-Lewis was the scorer. They will meet again in the Alliance Cup Final on 14th May when surely New London will be looking for the revenge to show to their YouTube followers. Second place is currently Old Roan Red Lions, however they fell this week to the inconsistent Baldon Sports, who recorded a 5-2 win. Bradley Shepherd with 3 and Jake Meredith with 2 for Baldon. George Stuart's double for Old Roan not enough. Teviot Rangers are 4th, despite falling to defeat against Bexley Athletic who finish their league season with a flourish. Two goals from Elton Lewis, plus goals from Sam Sevenoaks and Peter Taylor see Bexley record a 4-3 win over Teviot.

In Division Two, Kent Wanderers look to have the title sewn up, Sutcliffe Rangers their opponents for this round of matches couldn't field a side, so the Management Committee have awarded the points to the leaders, who are now 16 points clear with one game to play. Bayswater RK in second spot a 5 to play, so it looks sewn up but has the fat lady sung yet? When I see her I'll ask her! Advent Royals are in 3rd spot after a Conor Mansfield hat-trick recorded a 3-2 win at Lessa FXI, Balazs Szucs with 2 for the hosts.

In the Bert Holloway Cup, North Group, Phoenix Knights are still at the top following a 3-2 win over Turk Ocagi Limassol Russellers, N'diri N'dili with two for TOL but it wasn't enough for the Premier side who remain bottom of the group. No games took place in the East Group.

In the Leader Trophy, South Group, Woolwich Royals remain top despite falling to a 1-0 defeat against Spinghill Reserves. No credit for the goalscorer however as nothing is on FT for either side. In the West Group, Mottingham Forest slip to second spot after a 4-1 defeat against Borussia Heath 15 who secured their first win in this particular competition. Sam Winter, David Hathrill and Thomas Williams among the goals for the visitors. Taking advantage of that defeat were AFC Kingfisher who now sit on top, thanks to 6 points out of a Double Header against Meridian Sports. The first match finishing 4-0 to Kingfisher thanks to goals from James Harrington (2), Robert Webster and David Scott, and the second match finishing 3-1 thanks to Ryan Mitchinson, David Scott and Matt Tully.
