Two things to be settled this week. Who will win the Supreme Engraving Senior Division and who will win the Summerhill Music Division 3?
So let’s start in the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, and Under the Radar, fresh from their Dewar Shield victory faced Springhill United, who kept their title hopes alive with a 5-3 midweek win over Bayswater RK thanks to goals from Luke Miller (2), Aaron Miller, Marcus Nielsen and Patrick Ward. If Springhill win, they are champions, if they don’t then Under the Radar are. Well it turned out not to be as close as expected. Thomas Ngegba with a hat-trick, plus goals from Michael Adewale, Wazir Azeez, Toby Brown and Matheus Santos gave UTR a thumping 7-0 win and the title. Elsewhere in the Senior Division Bayswater RK ended the season with a double header win over Turk Ocagi Limassol 4-2 in the first game and 3-1 in the second.
So onto that game in the Summerhill Music Division 3, Eltham Lions needed to beat 2nd placed Orpington Eagles Reserves by 4 goals to secure the title from AFC Kingfisher. Goals from Lee Thraves and George Flynn put Orpington in control, but Eltham Lions struck back with 3 second half goals to deny the Eagles runners up spot, but it was AFC Kingfisher who win the title by a plus 2 goal difference from Eltham Lions.
Elsewhere in the Summerhill Music Division Three, it’s taken all year but AFC Sporting Greenwich have finally won a game. James Lee bagged a brace, while James Mingay and Edward Yeadon were also on target as the basement club secured a 4-3 win over Baldon Sports Reserves to pick up their first points of the season.
With Charlton Athletic being in the play-off final, a number of other matches will be decided by the committee around the table, but on the pitch that is it for another season.
We will post all the up to date stats and tables in the coming days, but in the meantime, to everyone who has once again made this season so enjoyable and help make this league what it is, thank you. Don’t forget the AGM is on 24th June, and we still are accepting applications from new teams for next season. It’s looking like we are going to have a 6th Division so exciting times are ahead.
