And what a week it was!
We have to start in the Plumstead Challenge Cup, where there was an upset of huge proportions. First Division Bayswater RK hosted last seasons League Champions and Dewar Shield winners Club Santacruzense De Londres. A hat-trick from Elie Kayembe saw Bayswater on their way to a 5-3 victory. Jack Smith and Edi Borges with the other goals. Joel Ramos and Vitor Abreu were on target for Santacruzense. Bayswater now have a trip to Long Lane B in the Quarter Final while Santacruzense have now gone 3 games without winning. Elsewhere what on paper seemed to be a very tight match turned into a one way rout for Hornfair Athletic as they recorded an 8-1 victory over Phoenix Knights. Sam Bailey (3), Daniel Brooker (2), Steven Flaherty, Lewis Oduku & Jay Naiwo on target for Hornfair who now face Abbey Wood or Junior Reds Spartans in the Quarter Finals.
Goals galore in the Leader Trophy Quarter Final between Heath & Baldon Sports as it needed extra time to separate the two sides. Heath progressing to the Semi Finals by the odd goal in 11. Shaun Anderson, Conor Kennedy, Anthony King, Jack Howell & Aaron Daniel Anthony on target for Heath, who now travel to Woolwich Royals in the Semi Final.
In the Fred Jolly Cup, First Round Second Leg, a Stephen Brown goal gave Welling Town the win over Teviot Rangers 3-2 on aggregate. Bexley Athletic now await in round 2.
In the Second Round, First Leg, Long Lane A take a commanding 6-0 win into the second leg against Junior Reds Spartans, Jerron Cragg with 4 goals Grant Duff & Jake Keys with the other goals. Seven goals for FC Plasma against Woolwich Spartans but the tie is still wide open after the Senior Division side hit 4 back. David Coker with 3, Lee Cullen and Matthew Parrish two goals each, while Eni Penev scored twice and Adam Roberts & Billy Granger both once for Spartans. Sabanoh also take a lead into the Second Leg match against Kent Wanderers as goals from Lawrence Boamah, Wilson Brown, David Noel & Bankole Koroma gave them a 4-1 first leg advantage. Darryl Fellows with the Kent Wanderers goal.
The Bert Holloway Cup kicked off as well, with Abbey Wood recording a 5-1 first leg win over Springhill United Reserves Tom Cirulis with a hat-trick, while Lee Lower and Grant Mayhew also weighed in with goals. Bexley Athletic take the points from a trip to Mottingham Forest coming away with a 3-1 win. Renell George, Oliver O'Brien & Christopher Ficetola for Bexley while James Moore was on target for Forest. Two goals from Liam Clubb-Cannon sees Orpington Eagles come away from Eltham Phoenix A with a 2-0 win in Group 2. In Group 4 Rewan Fernandez, Conor Mansfield and Papaa kwame Owusu were all on target as Advent Royals overcame Lessa FXI 3-0.
In the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division its all getting tight at the top as Footscray Lions close the gap on leaders Eltham Phoenix B to just one point with a 3-0 win at the table toppers. Two goals from Gary Ling and one from Gary Fowler for the Lions in Second spot. Jam leapfrog opponents Woolwich 90 into 6th spot with a 3-0 win. Two goals from Myles Alexander and one from Philip Owusu-Darkwah to seal the points.
In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, fixture congestion meant the unfortunate circumstances of Eltham SF and The Oddfellows Arms facing off just 7 days after their last encounter ended in a last minute controversial win for Oddfellows. No such business this time as The Oddfellows ran out 7-2 winners at the leaders to overtake them at the top of the table with 4 games in hand. Eddie Rowland scored 3, Jake McIntyre 2, with James Sutherland and Lewis Smith also on target for the Arms while Jordan Davids and Toby Brown were on target for the former leaders who remain without a win in 2018.
In the Danson Property Services Division One, Maroon XI opened up the gap between themselves and the bottom two to 4 points, coming from behind on the slope at Belvedere Sports Club to win 2-1 against Danson Albion. Jon Wayment put Danson ahead, but goals Alex Hyde and Jack Langsford gave Maroon XI the win.
In the ABA Technical Division One, Mottingham Park Rangers missed the chance to close the gap on leaders FC Plasma, going down 3-2 at third placed Junior Reds Athletic. Ben Malyon scored twice and James Beasley once for the Reds, while Justin Gould and Adam Ezrouki for Rangers.
In the Summerhill Music Division Three there all team were involved in Cup Action or the games were off.
