Week 15 - Sunday 3 December 2017

London FA Sunday Challenge Cup is the headline today, although should be. Eltham Phoenix B travelled across the river to Hackney Marshes to face Mile End, another YouTube side, and the highlights won't make easy watching as they came home after a 6-0 thrashing.

Three ties in the Plumstead Challenge Cup, Turk Ocagi Limassol Russellers are through after a 5-3 win at Kent Wanderers, a hat-trick from Christopher Sholu plus Serkan Ozdemir & Serkan Ozdemir with the goals for TOL while Allen Bastel, Ricky Gould and Wilfred Penmani were on target for Wanderers. TOL now travel to Junior Reds Athletic or FC Royal Sports & Social in round 3. Woodside Celtic are also through to round 3 and a game against Eltham SF with a 6-2 win at New London. Dominik Smereczynski was among the goals as AFC Kingfisher recorded a 2-1 win and a giant killing over Baldon Sports in their first round tie. A second round game against Hornfair Athletic awaits on the 17th December.

In the Dewar Shield, James Noel's hat-trick helped Woolwich 90 to a 4-1 win over Danson Albion and a tie against Blackfen United in the 3rd round. Danny Edwards with the other goal for Woolwich.

In the Presidents Cup quarter final, Sabanoh 97 progress to a Semi Final against Woolwich 90 or Jam with a 2-1 win over Footscray Lions. Mohamed Ghandour and Bankole Koroma with the goals for Sabanoh.

In the Win Jones Memorial Bowl, Jack Corr's strike gave Eltham SF the win against Phoenix Knights and a Semi Final tie at TOL Russellers or Hornfair Athletic.

More ties in the Fred Jolly Plate 1st round 1st leg, and two 5-3 wins plus a rare goalless draw. Heath recorded the first 5-3 win over Bexley Athletic, Aaron Daniel Anthony with a hat-trick, Anthony King and Blair Anderson on target for Heath who take a 2 goal lead into the second leg as they attempt a "giant killing". Also winning by the same margin were FC Plasma, David Coker hit a brace for Plasma, with Leigh Ives, Jamie Southin and Aaron Feagan also on target, while Dave Hooker blasted Forest level briefly from the edge of the box in the first half with his first competitive Sunday League goal in 25 years, while Corey Lye pulled another back early in the second half. David Shaw scored the third for Forest (who played most of the second half with 10 men through injuries) to keep them in sight going the second leg in the new year. All to play for in the tie between Advent Royals and Long Lane A as they played out a Sunday League rarity, a goal-less first leg tie.

In the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division, goals from Jack Carthy and Johnny Wright see Long Lane B leap back up the table into 3rd with a 2-1 win over St Michaels. Jam are off the bottom of the table and up to 7th with a win over Springhill United by the same score line to leave Springhill United languishing at the foot of the table.

In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, with the top two in cup action, Woolwich Spartans move two points behind the leaders into 3rd spot with a 3-0 win over Bostall Old Boys. Eni Penev hit a brace, and Adam Roberts the third. The two former LKSL sides faced off in WESFA for the first time and The Oddfellows Arms get bragging rights with a 3-1 win at Blackfen United.

In the Danson Property Services Division One, Welling Town Chairman Kevin Oakes took up the whistle as numerous last minute referee drop outs meant no referee on a WESFA game for the 3rd time this season, but even this couldn't stop a hung over Abbey Wood side stretching their lead at the top to 8 points with a 4-2 win. Jon Chorley hit both for Welling while Tom Cirulis (3) and Grant Mayhew were on target for Abbey Wood. FC Forza Greenwich hit eight past Junior Reds Spartans who could managed just three in reply.

In the ABA Technical Division Two, Junior Reds Athletic closed the gap on leaders Mottingham Park Rangers to just a point with a 3-1 win at Thamesmead who finished the game with 10 men after Adam Midgley was sent off for bringing down an opponent bearing in on goal. Paul Christodoulou with a Penalty and Michael Raphael (2) with the goals.

The Summerhill Music Division 3 saw Lessa FXI recording the biggest victory. Hasan Gunduz & Gary McKenna both with a brace, Balazs Szucs with the other in a 5-0 win over Baldon Sports Reserves, while Eltham Lions continue their good recent form with a 3-0 win over Vanbrugh to go second in the table.
