Three WESFA sides in London Sunday Trophy action this week, but only one progressing. Last seasons finalists Woolwich 90 bowed out 2-1 at Catford Wanderers, while Phoenix Knights took Cool Oak Rangers to penalties but couldn't convert any spot kicks of their own, going out 3-0 in the shoot out after a 1-1 draw. Jason Hammett's hat-trick and Danny Lucas brace saw New London progress to a pre-Christmas trip to Flamengo in the third round.
In the Dewar Shield Danson Albion progress to round two with a 5-3 win over Baldon Sports Reserves. Danson now host Woolwich 90 in round 2.
In the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division Eltham Phoenix B maintained their lead at the top of the table with a 4-0 win at Footscray Lions, Taylor Robinson struck twice, with Danny Russell and Theo Johnson also on target. Club Santacruzense de Londres lost ground, going down 2-1 at Long Lane B, Jack Robbins and Johnny Wright on target for the home side, while Filipe Abreu scored the consolation for Santacruzense. Another upset, saw Orpington Eagles run of poor form continue as the early league leaders went down 3-2 at previously winless Jam. Jacques Francisco scored twice, while Myles Alexander the third for Jam, while Shaun Egan and Nathan Hunter were on target for Eagles. Elsewhere Sabanoh 97 beat St Michaels 3-2.
In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, the top of the table clash saw 2nd placed Hornfair Athletic beat leaders Eltham SF 3-2. Sam Bailey the tormentor-in-chief again with 2 goals for Hornfair while Daniel Brooker scored the third. Toby and Emmanuel Brown were both on target for Eltham SF. A hat-trick from Joseph Bardwell and two from Bradley Killick saw Woodside Celtic secure a 5-2 win over Turk Ocagi Limassol Russellers, while two goals from Adam Roberts helped 4th placed Woolwich Spartans to a 4-2 win over new side Blackfen United, with Eni Penev and Habib Jakkari scored the other. Glen Bannell and James Goodman scoring Blackfen's first WESFA goals to no avail. The Oddfellows Arms also made their WESFA debut and Ben Eagles was among the goals as they beat Bostall Old Boys 4-2.
In the Danson Property Services Division One, Abbey Wood remain top after a 3-2 win over Welling Town, while Bayswater RK remain hot on their tails after a 5-2 over FC Forza Greenwich thanks to goals from Joey White (2), Bradley Johnson, Ryan Styles and Elie Kayembe. Long Lane A continue their good form with a 6-0 thumping of Maroon XI thanks to Jerron Cragg, Karlos Fairweather, Paul Jarman, Matthew McFarlane, Billy Epps & Solomon Oyewole. The match betwee Teviot and Junior Reds Spartans was abandoned following a serious injury, and we all wish the Junior Reds player a speedy recovery.
In the ABA Technical Division Two, Mottingham Park Rangers remain on top after a 4-0 win over Bexley Athletic, Jordan Jordeson bagging a hat-trick, while Esmail El Khabaz was also on target. FC Plasma are two points behind after a 3-1 win over Springhill United Reserves, Bobby Rochford, Jamie Southin and Matthew Parish were on target for Plasma while evergreen Colin McCabe was on target for Springhill. Goals galore at Baldon Sports as they share 10 goals with Junior Reds Athletic and the points. Paul Joy and Michael Carmen both scored twice for Baldon with Harley Rauch grabbing the other. Ben Malyon also hit two, with Brandan James, Joe Lattimore and James Welch all also on target (3 of which from the spot), for Junior Reds.
In the Summerhill Music Third Division, Woolwich Royals remain 5 points clear at the top, courtesy of a 4-2 win over Lessa FXI, Nimet Haxiu scoring two & Steven Armstrong and Yavor Hristov also bagging goals. Martin Evans and Harry Fox were on target for Lessa FXI. In third spot AFC Kingfisher recorded a 3-2 win over Eltham Lions, David Scott and Matt Tully among the goals.
