Week 7 - Sunday 8 October 2017

More County Cup Action this week, and two WESFA teams bow out. Firstly in the London Sunday Junior Cup, Danson Albion went out to SELKENT side Footscray Lions Under 21 on penalties after 90 minutes without a goal. In the Kent Sunday Junior Cup, Welling Town travelled to Swanscombe Tigers and despite goals from Jamie Sandford and a Chris Sundborg double, they went out 4-3.


This years Plumstead Challenge Cup kicked off as well with a tie that saw two external teams face each other. FC Royal Sports & Social A of the London & Kent Suburban League faced Hayden Youth Association Second side of the Orpington & Bromley Sunday Football League, and it was the LKSL side who will progress. A brace a piece from Paul Ryan and Ben Hunt see FC Royal Sports progressing 4-1. Max Ryan was on the scoresheet for Hayden. 

More games in the Dewar Shield and a couple of upsets. Kent Wanderers of Division One travelled to Senior Division side Turk Ocagi Limassol Russellers, and came away with a 6-3 victory. Dollard Zola and Wilfred Penmeni both scored twice for the first division side along with Ricky Gould & Scott Ketchen, meaning Jason Thanni, Ben Lovell and Yanki Duzbeyaz's goals were not enough for TOL Russellers. The reward for Kent Wanderers is a home time against Eltham SF in the second round. The same type of upset saw Abbey Wood of division one travel to Senior Division Hornfair Athletic and progress 5-4. Two goals from Chris Hart, plus Callum Newitt and Darren Shortall strikes, plus an owl goal did the damage to cancel out Hornfair's Sam Bailey's double, and goals from Wesley Carlow and Michael Fernley. Abbey Wood now face holders Club Santacruzense de Londres in round 3 after they disposed of Teviot Rangers 7-3. Wendel Da Silva and Marcio Augusto both grabbed hat-tricks while Sergiomar Da Silva also scored. Owen Jeavons bagged a hat-trick for Teviot but it wasn't enough. Footscray Lions travelled to division 3 AFC Kingfisher and there was no banana skin here as a Jamie Williams hat-trick helped them to a 5-1 win with Luke Smith and Ben Williams also on target. Footscray now travel to the winners of Bayswater RK v Bostall Old Boys in the 3rd round. Cutty Sark (Thamesmead) are also into Round 3 with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Springhill United Reserves. Michael Bright, Sam Noller, Bradley Winzar and Tom Barton were the scorers. Cutty Sark now face either Danson Albion, Baldon Sports Reserves or Woolwich 90. Long Lane B are into the next round with a 5-1 win over Eltham Phoenix A (formerly Welling Town A), but no credit as no scorers on Full Time. Long Lane now host Maroon XI in the 3rd round after Maroon needed extra time to overcome 3rd Division Abbeymead 3-2. Dan Lott scored twice and Chris Rostek once for Maroon while Enoch Osei hit the headlines for Abbeymead, by getting on the scoresheet before seeing red. A Joseph Bardwell double saw Woodside Celtic beat Long Lane A 3-1, Dennis Williams with the 3rd, while Matthew McFarlane was on target for Lane. Celtic now face the winners of the Kent Wanderers v Eltham SF tie in the 3rd Round. The last tie of the day sees Premier Division Jam progress with a 3-1 win over Division 3 Meridian Sports. Clement Edewor, Reion McFarlane and Michael Soile enough for Jam to overcome Campbell Clee's strike for Meridian. Jam now face the winners of the Lessa FXI v New London tie in round 3. 

One tie in the Leader Trophy sees Heath progress to round 2 with a 4-2 win over Lessa FXI. Shawn Anderson, Blair Anderson, Conor Kennedy and Anthony King the scorers for Heath while Danny Allen and Kris Ruffell were on target for Lessa. Heath now face Baldon Sports Reserves in the Quarter Final. 

Into league action and in the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division St Michaels find themselves top of the tree after a 2-0 win over Springhill United. Jack Jolly with a brace. A point behind but still unbeaten are Orpington Eagles who recorded a 3-2 win over Woolwich 90. James Leahy, Terry Winter and Nathan Hunter with the goals for Eagles, while Danny Edwards and Renato Marinalli were on target for Woolwich 90. 

In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division Eltham SF are top of the table after a 3-1 win over Phoenix Knights. Jedidiah Brown with 2 for SF along with a Charlie Gaish strike. Zack William James was on target for Knights. Three points behind Eltham in 2nd spot are New London who recorded a 5-3 win over Woolwich Spartans. Jerry Reeves scored twice with other goals from Arlindo Covington, Danny Lucas and Jon-Jo Bell for New London while Billy Granger, Adam Roberts and Al Ameen Amodu were on target for Spartans. 

In the Danson Property Services Division One, just the one game which sees Bayswater RK up to second spot 2 points behind leaders Abbey Wood after a 6-1 win over Junior Reds Spartans. Robin McMahon scored a hat-trick while Mazzie Roy, Jack Smith and Bradley Johnson were also on target. 

In the ABA Technical Division Two, FC Plasma miss the chance to go 3 points clear at the top after going down 3-2 to Bexley Athletic. Renell George and Elton Lewis among the scorers for Bexley as FC Plasma missed two penalties and had just David Coker on the scoresheet. Advent Royals are up to 4th after a victory by the same score against Baldon Sports WESFA, Enoch Charway and Rewan Fernandez among the scorers. 

In the Summerhill Music Division 3, Woolwich Royals are up to second spot just a point behind leaders AFC Kingfisher after a stunning 6-1 win over Vanbrugh (who looked to be a little short of players). Yavor Hristov scored twice, along with Arben Qenani, Malik Alia and Nimet Haxhiu who also grabbed goals. Elsewhere Mottingham Forest remain bottom without a point after Eltham Lions recorded their first league win with a 4-1 win. No scorers shown for either side.
