Week 17 Update - Sunday 11 December 2016



The headline makers this week are our sides progressing in the London Cup to the last 16 of the London Sunday Junior Cup. Hero for Jam was young Miles Alexander, hitting a brace as Jam overcame AFC Balham of the Southern Sunday League 3-2, Sam Soile with the other goal for Jam.

Progressing with them are Woolwich 90 who faced former WESFA side Greenwich Mariners, now of the Orpington and Bromley Sunday League in an early morning shoot out at Meridian Sports. Two goals from James Noel, plus strikes from Ryan Fowlin and Danny Edwards sees the WESFA side progress 4-2. Jam will now host London Ravens and Woolwich 90 FC BKT with both ties to be played on 22nd Jan.

Not progressing any further are Eltham Phoenix, who faced Croydon Municipal Sunday League side Bosjam, and put up little defence it would seem, going out with a whimper 9-1.


In Domestic Cup Action, Bayswater RK of Division 2 knocked out Division One opponents Bexley Athletic in a 3-1 Plumstead Challenge Cup victory. No credits for the goalscorers as nothing recorded on Full Time so far. Also progressing are Welling Town who were taken all the way by Division 2 Kent Wanderers, however edged their lower division rivals out 3-2, Danny Beazant scoring twice and Taylor Robinson once for the Premier Division side. Chris McGinty scored both for Kent Wanderers. Bayswater will now travel to Old Roan Red Lions in the 3rd round, while Welling Town travel to Woodside Celtic in a 2nd round tie.


The Dewar Shield saw two 7-0 home victories, running with the form book. First came Abbey Wood defeating Meridian Sports with goals from Lee Lower (2), Alan Turner (2), Darren Shortall (2) and David Bacon, while Mottingham Park Rangers overcame Vanbrugh with goals from Jordan Johnson (3), Adam Ezrouki, Alfie Gosnell, David Ricketts and Esmail El Khabaz. Both teams now travel for their 3rd round tie, with Abbey Wood going to Bostall Old Boys and Mottingham Park Rangers to Woolwich 90.


One tie in the Len Wareham Cup saw Junior Reds Athletic and Lessa 90 going to 120 minutes. 4-4 after 90 it was the home side that edged through in Extra Time 5-4. James Beasley and Paul Christodoulou both scoring twice along with a goal from Ben Malyon for the Reds. A hat-trick from Hassan Gunduz and one from Blaine Carey was not enough for Lessa FXI who also saw substitute Richard Williams sent off.

Junior Reds will now host either Springhill United Reserves or Meridian Sports in the Semi Final who face each other this Sunday.


Into League action and the Amalgamated Lifts Ltd Premier Division saw Sabanoh 97 go 5 points clear at the top with a 4-0 win over Turk Ocagi Limasol Russellers. Wilson Brown struck twice with Elijah Kargbo and Bankole Koroma hitting the others.

The other Premier Division game saw Springhill United and Club Santacruzense de Londres share 6 goals and the points. Ricky Evans, Adam Graham and Patrick Ward on target from Springhill while Kruma Cruz, Sergiomar Da Silva & Ivandro Rodrigues hit the goals for Santacruzense.


In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, Phoenix Knights closed the gap on leaders Woolwich 90 to 2 points with a 2-0 win over Eltham SF. Corbin Blackie and Callum Togwell doing the damage for Phoenix Knights. Two goals from Sam Millen helped Cutty Sark (Thamesmead) leapfrog Eltham SF into 3rd as they recorded a 6-0 win over bottom side Junior Reds Spartans. Michael Bright, Terry Millen, Bill Smith and Jimmy Harris were also on target.

Woolwich Spartans are in 5th spot after a 6-0 win over Danson Albion. Billy Granger and Al Ameen Amodu both scored twice with Adam Roberts also on target.


Into Division One, leaders Woodside Celtic increased their goal difference at the top from FC Plasma with a thumping 11-1 win over FC Puma. Bradley Killick scored 5 and Dennis Williams 2 as shorthanded Puma had no answer for the leaders. FC Plamsa tried to keep up with a 9-4 win over Royal Arsenal, Oliver Vines hit 4 for the home side, Jamie Southin 2 and David Hunt, Joe Perry and Jack Brereton were also on target. Giuseppe Vammacigno scored twice for Royal Arsenal along with goals from Dario Princip & Mwewe Kapotwe as Royal Arsenal were defeated but score 4 in a match for the first time. 3rd placed Old Roan Red Lions will look at 2 points dropped as they draw 4-4 with 10th placed Woolwich Royals, Tommy Eades scored twice, while Tom Lawrance and Giles Wilmore also scored. No details recorded on Full Time for Woolwich Royals. Teviot Rangers leapfrog Baldon Sports into 7th spot in a game which saw both sides get red cards. A hat-trick from Owen Jeavons, plus goals from Ryan House, Jack Kennedy and Scott Mulgrew saw Teviot hit Baldon for 6. Rawlings Omoruyi scored a consolation for Baldon Sports.


In Division Two, leaders Advent Royals brushed aside 10 man Mottingham Forest 9-2. 6 goals from Ryan McDermott plus goals from Michael Eshun, Malasa Kaloshie and Bernard Mwita doing the damage against the home side who saw Michael Sims sent off. Sutcliffe Rangers are now up to 3rd after a 5-3 win over Borussia Heath 15. Luke Cooke and Joel Thompson both scoring twice with Charles Akinde adding the other. Moses Omoruyi and Daniel Quarshie were both on target for Springhill United Reserves as the 10th placed side recorded their 2nd win of the season with a 3-1 win over AFC Kingfisher.
