Week 23 Round Up - Sunday 17 February 2019

We start this week with the Alliance Cup, and Phoenix Knights, who faced table toppers Welling Town in the Semi Final. 90 minutes passed and the sides could not be separated, but it was the Knights who put the division leaders to the sword in extra time to complete our first Cup Final line up of the season. Goals from David Guthrie (2) and Andrew Ridgers sealed it, while Markus Marcus & Frederick Agyemang were on target for Welling. Phoenix Knights will face in form FC Royals in the final at VCD on 14th April at 1030. Tickets will be on sale on our tickets page soon!

Another Semi Final this time in the Len Wareham Memorial Cup and another game going the distance as Danson Albion hosted Bexley Athletic. Mark Bennett was on target for Danson while Elton Lewis struck for Bexley from the penalty spot. Extra Time couldn’t find a winner so it was onto the spot kicks, and it’s Bexley Athletic who progress to the final 4-3 on penalties. Abbeymead or Russellers await in the final.

In the Fred Jolly Memorial Cup, goals from Adam Roberts and Alan Selby were on target for Woolwich Spartans as they overcame FC Forza Greenwich 2-1, Matthew Woolf was on target for Forza. Springhill or Long Lane are the reward for the win. In another tie Mottingham Park Rangers progress past South East Athletic Maroon 2-1 thanks to two Adam Ezrouki goals. Blackfen in the quarters is the reward for Rangers.

Another thriller, this time in the Dewar Shield saw Senior Division Bayswater RK seal an extra time 3-2 win over Premier Division Barnehurst. Edi Borges struck twice and Tunde Aderonmu once. The Oddfellows Arms await in a mouth watering Semi Final.

In the Bert Holloway Cup FC Royals overcame a potential banana skin at Orpington Eagles Reserves. Douane West scored twice, with Stefan Jones, Micah Banton and Tyrone Headley for Royals as they progress 5-2. South East Lads await in the Quarter Final.

In the Peter Smith Memorial Cup Under the Radar upset division leaders, Springhill United 3-1 Jedidiah Brown scored twice and Thomas Ngegba with the UTR goals to set up a Semi Final tie against Welling Town A or Barnehurst.

In the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division, Jam and Burrage Blues shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, David Olayokun on target for Jam, while madness ensued at Hall Place as the game between The Oddfellows Arms and Sabanoh 97 was abandoned.

In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, Long Lane recorded a 6-2 win over Catford Wanderers, Femi Orenuga scored twice along with goals from Grant Duff, Daniel McCarthy, Michael McGuire & Paul Ibidapo. Ashley Douglas and Ricky Farquharson on target for Catford. Glen Bannell, Adam Gonzalez and Shaun Bushby were on target for Blackfen United as they overcame Erith Athletic 3-1., and Hamid Bangura was the man of the hour for Turk Ocagi Limasol Russellers as he scored twice in their 2-1 win over Orpington Eagles. James Monks with the consolation for Eagles.

In the Danson Property Services Division One, a long overdue win for SEL as they beat FC Plasma 5-3. Hugo Clark and Brandon Masher scored twice, with Cian Barry also on target, while David Hunt., Louie Rowbotham and Jason Hammett. At Northumberland Heath a 3-1 win for Bostall Rangers at Junior Reds Athletic thanks to goals from Danny Harris, Daniel Hassett and John Perry.

In the Aba Technical Division Two, Karlton Lynch scored twice, as Abbeymead secured a 4-0 win over Bexley Wanderers, Adam Fahy and John Woodcock with the other goals. Elsewhere Harry McEvoy and Connor Taylor both scored twice for Meridian Sports as they beat Beacons 6-2. Max Foreman and Marc Borley with the other goals while Josh Harrison and John Rowley were on target for Beacons. More madness as Greenwich Park Rangers v Woolwich Royals was also abandoned in the worst weekend the league has witnessed in years.

In the Summerhill Music Division Three, top met bottom as AFC Kingfisher beat AFC Sporting Greenwich 10-1. Dominik Smereczynski scored five, Patryk Smereczynski twice, James Harrington twice and Ryan Mitchinson once. Edward Yeadon was the scorer for Greenwich. Duke Binitie scored a hat-trick as Peckham Rye overcame Lessa FXI 5-1 Dean Grice and Craig Parsons also on target. Ben Newham, Graham Smith and Dominic Giles were on target for Eltham Lions but Baldon Sports Reserves inflict their first league defeat of the season with a 4-3 win. In the final match of the week a Charles Fotheringham goal gave Springhill United Reserves a 1-0 win over Seven Acre Sports.
