Week 5 Round Up - Sunday 30th September

It was the turn of the Kent County Cups to take centre stage this week, first up, the Kent Premier Sunday Cup and Footscray Lions travelling to “The Jungle” to take on Orpington & Bromley League’s YouTubers SE Dons. Sadly this is where the Lions journey ended after they went down 3-1. In the Kent FA Sunday Trophy Bexley Athletic’s interest also ended with a 3-2 defeat at AFC Lessa Christchurch despite two goals from Richard Alford. On the brighter side, AFC Royals progress to the next round with a 7-2 win over Valley Rovers Reserves. Douane West with a hat-trick doing the damage, while Tyrone Headey, Leon Nicholls, Jay Thomas and Donovan James were all also on target. In the Kent Sunday Junior Cup, Turk Ocagi Bermondsey are also through to the next round after a 4-0 win at Lessa Albion. Tijani Eshilokun, N’diri N’Dili, Carl Oblitey & Ben Lovell with the goals. SEL bow out with a 6-2 defeat to Club Langley, Theo Jones with both for SEL.

In the Plumstead Challenge Cup, Brockley of the London & Kent Suburban League made short work of Division 3 Heath, progressing 5-1 in the Preliminary Round match so set up a first round tie against Orpington Eagles. Zayddin McKop on target for Heath. Goals from Luke Gillham, Ronaldo Lleshi & Michael Fenn gave Beacons a 3-1 win over Senior Division Mottingham Forest. Conor Maloney with the consolation for Forest. Beacons now face Junior Reds Athletic or Barnehurst in round 2. Orpington Eagles Reserves took it the full distance to beat Meridian Sports, goals from Daniel Hillary and Freddie Ward for Eagles and two for Harry McEvoy for Meridian sending it to extra time and penalties and it was Orpington Eagles with the steady nerves as they progress 4-3 on spot kicks. Mottingham Park Rangers also progress after Erith Athletic were unable to field a side.

In the Dewar Shield, Burrage Blues finally record a win, 4-3 against Peckham Rye to progress to round 2, but no credit to the goalscorers as they haven't been recorded on full time. Anthony Dennis, Danny Warne & Duke Binite on target for Peckham. Burrage Blues now host YouTubers Under the Radar in round 2. Woolwich 90 await Greenwich Park Rangers after they recorded a 5-1 win over Division 3 rivals Vanbrugh. Frankie Church bagging a brace, with Daniel Bowler, Bobby Moore and Lee Knight also on target.

Into the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division and Woolwich 90 were the big winners, recording a 5-2 win over Woodside Celtic. Two goals a piece from Danny Edwards and Shane Daly, with a further strike from Tremaine Brown. Darren Flaherty and Georgie Lowes on target for Woodside. James Sutherland struck twice for The Oddfellows Arms as they snatch a 2-1 win at St Michaels. Laurent Hamill with the goal for St Michaels. Elsewhere Sabanoh 97 and Jam share the spoils in a 2-2 thriller. Wilson Brown and Steven Jayar-Mandaray for the home side, with David Ottley and Michael Soile for Jam.

Into the Supreme Engraving Senior Division and leaders Springhill United hit a round dozen against Orpington Eagles with both Patrick Ward and Aaron Miller grabbing 4 each, Marcus Neilson struck twice, while Harry Neilson and Danny Parmenter also grabbed goals. Strikes from Jamie Groves and Elie Kayembe gave Bayswater RK a 2-0 win over Under the Radar, while Catford Wanderers dismantled Abbey Wood 7-1. Finally Jerron Cragg hit a hat-trick as Long Lane beat Blackfen United 5-2. Charlie May and Matthew McFarlane also on target for Lane, while Daniel Bannell hit both for Blackfen.

Into the Danson Property Services Division One and FC Plasma were the big hitters of the week, smashing 10 past Phoenix Knights in a 10-3 win. Bobby Rochford (3), David Hunt (2), Jason Hammett (2), Louie Rowbotham, Jamie Southin & Noel Rodney all on target. Jack Cox, David Guthrie and Damien Mossom on target for the home side. Ben Malyon was among the goals again as Junior Reds Athletic went to FC Forza and came away with a 5-0 win, while Kent Wanderers went to Woolwich Spartans and hit 7 to the home side’s 4. Leon Farrell (3), Chris McGinty (2) and Wilfred Penmani (2) doing the damage for Wanderers. Two goals from James Purkiss gave Bostall Rangers a 2-1 win over South East Lads.

In the ABA Technical Division Two, Bexley Wanderers were the big winners after travelling to Advent Royals and coming away with a 6-2 win. Taylor Bloomfield, Ayman Al Mantawy, Omar Al Mantawy (2) , Ryan Minett and Charlie Sherwood all on target for the visitors. Two goals from Ashley Kempster and one from Bradley Shepherd gave Russellers a 3-0 win at Danson Albion, while Yavor Hristov and Jemarle Jacobs-Rennalls gave Woolwich Royals a 2-0 win over Abbeymead.

In the Summerhill Music Division Three AFC Kingfisher went nap against Lessa FXI. Patryk Smereczynski (2), Dominik Smereczynski, Raimond Camans & David Scott all on target in their 5-0 win. Goals from Sam Browning, Ryan Norris and Daniel Earley gave Eltham Lions a 3-1 win over Seven Acre Sports. Finally the battle of the reserves finished all square as Baldon Sports and Springhill United finish 2-2. Joseph Evans and Craig Malpas for the home team while Rhys Tansley hit a brace from Springhill.
