Royal British Legion presented with £1000 cheque

The efforts of the clubs, referees and supporters were on show at the recent Bert Holloway Cup Final, when League Chairman Dave Fone presented William Seaward of the Royal British Legion with a cheque for £1000, total of the amount raised by clubs, referees and supporters since former Royal Marine Graham Monk attended a league meeting on 9th January and spoke to us all to tell how the Royal British Legion had helped him rebuild his life since being blown up by an Improvised Explosive Device while on tour with the armed forces, and they continue to do so.

Graham's story touched a real nerve with the clubs in the league who quickly voted to donate money to the RBL. Referees quickly followed suit with a number donating their match fees to the cause, finally supporters at every league cup final have dug deep into their pockets to make this donation to the superb efforts of the Poppy Appeal.

We thank you all for your contributions.
