Week 38 Update - Sunday 28 May 2017

Midweek action first and the Leader Trophy Final was held in Tuesday 23rd May with Springhill United Reserves beating Woolwich Royals 3-0 thanks to 2 goals from Daniel Quarshie and one from Charlie Troke.

Thursday 25th May saw the Bert Holloway Cup Final, and Phoenix Knights lifting this superb trophy thanks to a 3-2 win over Turk Ocagi Limassol Russellers. Two goals from James Groom, and an Own Goal sealing the win.

Onto the Sunday action and congratulations to Club Santacruzense de Londres who became league champions. The Championship is not without controversy however as the game v Long Lane to decide the title, descended into chaos with an hour gone, after the two teams lost control of themselves resulting in the match being abandoned after 60 minutes with the score 3-3 with the referee stating, it became clear for the safety of all involved this game could not continue. Both teams now face punishment from LFA, and will both have to explain their actions to the league. As Santacruzense only needed to avoid defeat, the abandonment seals their title victory.

Into the Supreme Engraving Senior Division and Eltham SF failed to field a side v Plumstead AFC which lifts Plumstead off of the foot of the table, to leave Junior Reds Spartans bottom.

In Division One, Abbey Wood needed a large victory over Mottingham Park Rangers to overcome New London's superior goal difference to claim runners up spot, however Mottingham are no pushovers, and a 5-3 win for Abbey Wood wasn't enough.

Division Two and Springhill United Reserves needed a win over Advent Royals to finish 4th, however it wasn't to be and goals from Conor Mansfield,  Andrew Obayiuwana & Eben Owusu sealed a 3-2 win for Advent despite goals from Daniel Quarshie and Harry Nelson. Advent finish 3rd with Springhill 5th, Junior Reds Athletic sandwiched in the middle.

So that's it! Season over, now the hard work for the committee begins. Prepare for the AGM, and organise the constitution for next season, and recruit new teams...... so much to do!

Clubs enjoy your break and come back refreshed for next season.
