Springhill United Reserves celebrate their victory in the Leader Trophy Final

Division Two Springhill United Reserves shocked their Division One opponents Woolwich Royals in the Leader Trophy Final tonight in front of around 200 fans at Meridian Sports.

The game started with a minutes silence as WESFA paid our respects to those killed in the tragic events in Manchester last night.  After the game kicked off it was a cagey affair until Daniel Quarshie nipped in and shot Springhill into a 27th minute lead, which is how it remained into the second half.

In the 55th minute after some poor defending and the ball fell to Charlie Troke who stroked the ball into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

Things got worse for Woolwich Royals as Danny Shaw fouled Mirjan Qenani who then got up and punched the Springhill player. While Shaw was cautioned, the inevitable Red Card followed for Qenani who finds himself with the unenviable record of being sent off in the Semi Final and Final of the same competition.

There was still time for Daniel Quarshie to break through the middle and score his second of the night and Springhill's 3rd in front of the watching Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Although Woolwich Royals hit the bar late on, the comeback was never on the cards, and it was Springhill United Reserves who were presented the Leader Trophy by our guests of honour David Streetley and Nick Frith of the London Football Association.
