Headline makers this week are Eltham SF and Sabanoh 97, Eltham SF securing a win on penalties over Woolwich 90 in the Win Jones Memorial Cup to break Woolwich 90 hearts for the second time in 8 days. Then in the afternoon, Sabanoh 97 put last week's Dewar Shield defeat behind them to secure a 3-1 win over Jam in a thrilling game. Reports on both games were written earlier in the week.
The Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division saw a massive game at the top of the table with 2nd placed Club Santacruzense de Londres facing 3rd placed Long Lane, and with the news that New Life United would not be completing their fixtures this meant both sides still had a chance of winning the league. A fiery encounter saw the two sides draw 1-1 with Sergiomar Da Silva on target for Sanrcruzense and Tom Rush on target for Long Lane. The result leaves Long Lane 5 points off the top with one to play (against Santacruzense on 28th May), while Santacruzense have two to play and a 3 points behind Sabanoh 97 at the top. The next fixture? Sabanoh 97 v Club Santacruzense! After a long season, it's come down to this, they face off on the 21st May at Coldharbour Sports with the winner being crowned league champions. Should it be a draw, it's then down to the result for Santacruzense against Long Lane on the 28th, it's nail biting stuff!
Again no fixtures in the Supreme Engraving Senior Division so onto Division One, Mottingham Park Rangers having a strong finish to the season, with a 4-2 win over Baldon Sports, David Ricketts hitting a brace, with Stuart Jordeson and Esmail El Khabaz also on target, while Bradley Shepherd and Lucky Agbandje scored for Baldon. The result leaves Rangers 6th in the table with one to play. Baldon finish the season in 8th spot. Royal Arsenal finish their WESFA experience with a 2-0 defeat to Abbey Wood who move 3rd, Royal Arsenal finishing the season with 4 points but always completing their fixtures and playing with a smile. Good Luck guys wherever you end up. Grant Mayhew and Nicholas Joel were the scorers for Abbey Wood today.
In Division Two just the one game which saw Bayswater RK beat Mottingham Forest 6-1. Joey White with a hat-trick, with the other goals by Joseph Grant-Hines, Jason Gardiner and Kyle Thomson. Both teams still have one league game to play, but neither can move position with Bayswater second from top and Forest second from bottom.
In the Bert Holloway Trophy North Group, Woolwich Spartans needed to beat already qualified Phoenix Knights to make it to the Semi Finals, however the leaders weren't laying down for anyone recording a 4-3 win, with Aiden Fernandez, James Groom and Jack Cox all on target. The win means Turk Ocagi Limasol Russellers qualify for the Semi Finals ahead of Woolwich Spartans, with the games to be played on 21st May against either Eltham SF or Mottingham Park Rangers depending on the result of their fixture on 14th May, after Bexley Athletic ended FC Plasma's qualification hopes with a 3-2 win, Elton Lewis, Renell George and Mujitaba Hussain on target for Bexley.
In the Leader Trophy South Group, some midweek action saw Springhill United Reserves and Woolwich Royals share 2 goals and the points. Daniel Quarshie on target for Springhill with no info on Full Time for Woolwich Royals. Back to Sunday and Woolwich Royals secured the top spot with a 5-1 win over Lessa FXI, Yavor Hristov and Arben Qenani both scoring twice and Jorge Orrin on target for Royals. In the West Group Mottingham Forest's hopes of qualification were something short of a miracle, but it wasn't to be as Meridian Sports failed to field a side against Borussia Heath 15, and the 3 points securing runners up spot for Borussia.
The Leader Trophy Semi Finals to be played on Sunday 14th May are as follows:
Springhill United Reserves v AFC Kingfisher
Borussia Heath 15 v Woolwich Royals
The Final is to be played on Tuesday 23rd May at Meridian Sports with a 7:30 kick off, ticket will be on sale at wesfa.co tomorrow evening.
