The London & Kent Suburban League took centre stage on WESFA this weekend with an all LKSL Plumstead Challenge Cup 3rd Round Game. Baldon Sports top of the Premier Division entertained Welling Town in 4th, with Welling Town having lost just 4 games and Baldon Sports unbeaten. It was the league leaders that came out on top, with centre-back Paul Marshall scoring twice to set Baldon on their way, after Grant Bilney's first half opener. Tom Skelton scored the 4th, while Reece Machin scored the consolation for Welling Town. Baldon Sports now go on to the Quarter Finals to face another LKSL opponent, 2nd placed St Michaels on what should be yet another cracking PCC tie coming up this Sunday.
In the Win Jones Memorial Bowl Semi Final Nick Jackson and Renato Marinalli scored the goals as Woolwich 90 made it two finals in two weeks with a 2-0 victory over Danson Albion. They now face Eltham SF in the final at Welling United FC on Sunday 7th May at 1030. Tickets for this game which a large crowd is expected for, can be purchased here.
In the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division, leaders Sabanoh 97 reinforced their position at the top, with an emphatic 7-1 win over Footscray Lions, Bankole Koroma and David Noel scored twice, with Funmi Ekiomado, Rashid Kamara and Issac Walker also on target. Luke Smith scored a consolation for Footscray to take his season's tally to 30. A Steven Smith hat-trick helped Long Lane leapfrog Club Santacruzense into second place with a 5-1 win over Junior Reds Seniors, Tom Rush and Joe Borland were also on target, while Oliver Jordan Black scored the goal for Junior Reds which proved to be their last of the season, as they decided to concede their final game against Club Santacruzese de Londres.
In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, two goals from Michael Bright saw 3rd placed Cutty Sark beat Plumstead AFC 2-0, while in 4th spot Bostall Old Boys secured a 3-2 win over Junior Reds Spartans thanks to goals from Mark Hughes, Peter Tyrrell & Adam Williams. Jamal John and Bradley Ashby were on target for Reds. Elsewhere Maroon XI recorded just their 4th league win of the season with a 3-0 win at Eltham Phoenix thanks to goals from Dan Lott, Chris Rostek and Chris Sheppard.
In Division One, Old Roan Red Lions jump to top spot with Woodside Celtic not playing courtesy of a 2-2 draw with FC Plasma. Steve King and Giles Wilmore on target for the new leaders, while Steve Armstrong and Louie Rowbotham scored for Plasma. Owen Jeavons scored another 3 goals as 4th placed Teviot Rangers overcame Baldon Sports Charlton 5-3, Matthew Bell and Jack Kennedy with the others, while Roy Wheeler scored twice and Carlos Fairweather were the scorers for Baldon. Elsewhere Abbey Wood in 7th spot beat Royal Arsenal 8-1 thanks to goals from David Bacon (3), Callum Newitt (3), Lee Lower and Grant Mayhew. Mark Cox with the consolation for Royal Arsenal who continue to show what a great team they are despite not winning by going out and playing each week.
In Division Two a top of the table clash saw leaders Kent Wanderers travel to second placed Advent Royals. Chris McGinty scored twice for Kent Wanderers to cement their place at the top with a 4-3 win, Scott Hollingsworth and Marc Smith with the other goals, while Daniel Donkor scored twice & Cephason Anderson once for Advent Royals. Bayswater RK took full advantage of Advent's defeat with a 3-2 win over Junior Reds Athletic, Jack Smith bagging a hat-trick for Bayswater. James Beasley and Joe Lattimore were on target for Athletic. The game between Sutcliffe Rangers and Springhill United Reserves was abandoned in the second half with Springhill leading by the only goal scored by Ashley Care.
In the Bert Holloway Cup North Group, Phoenix Knights shoot straight to the top of the group with a 5-0 win over Woolwich Spartans, Daniel Kennedy scored twice, with the other goals scored by Jack Cox, Paul Morgan and Jamie Richardson. In the East Group, Eltham SF go top on goal difference thanks to a 3-1 win over Bexley Athletic. JJ Olatunji, Jedidiah Brown and Charlie Gaish the Eltham scorers while Elton Lewis was on target for Bexley.
In the Leader Trophy South Group, Vanbrugh are off the mark with a 1-0 win over Lessa FXI, while in the West Group, a stunning goal from James Moore saw Mottingham Forest fight back to draw 3-3 with AFC Kingfisher and remain top of the group. David Scott (2) and James Harrington were the scorers for Kingfisher. Meridian Sports jump to second spot with a 2-1 win over Borussia Heath, Lee Gould and James Clarke with the goals for Meridian.
