Club Santacruzense make it to Dewar Shield Final!
Two goals from Vitor Abreu, and a goal a piece from Joel Ramos and Sergiomar Da Silva see the Portguese side make it to the Final of the Dewar Shield with a 4-1 win over Long Lane, where they will face either Springhill United or Sabanoh 97 who play this weekend. Johnny Wright was on target for Long Lane, who will now turn their attention to the Plumstead Challenge Cup, where a victory over AFC Croydon Town will set up a return to Larkhall Park for the Semi Final clash in the PCC and a chance of revenge. The Dewar Shield final is provisionally booked to take place at Dartford FC's Princes Park Stadium on 30th April, so save the date! In the Presidents Cup, Sabanoh 97 make it to the final with a hard fought 1-0 win over Welling Town Woolwich. David Noel with the only goal to send Sabanoh to a provisional date at Welling Town on 7th May, where they will face either Jam or Club Santacruzense de Londres, so potentially, Sabanoh and Santacruzense could face each other in 2 finals in two weeks! For Welling Town Woolwich, this was the end of the line, and they disbanded just a few days after this game, and with them having played just over half of their fixtures their record has been expunged.
One game in the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division, saw Footscray Lions beat Springhill United 4-1. Dean Warner, Luke Smith, Sam McNally and Joe Brown on target for Footscray.
In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, Woolwich 90 remain top with 5 games in hand after a 2-1 win over Plumstead AFC. The title is entirely theirs to lose! Ryan Fowlin on target for the leaders, whose next game sees them in the London FA Sunday Junior Cup Semi Final against Catford Wanderers of the Orpington and Bromley League. Continuing the Supreme Engraving Senior Division and Phoenix Knights in 2nd spot fell to a 2-1 defeat against Bostall Old Boys Blues, Adam Williams and John Austin on target for Bostall, which leaves the door open for Cutty Sark (Thamesmead) to close in on second spot, with a 7-0 win over Eltham Phoenix leaving them 3 points behind Phoenix Knights in 3rd spot but with 2 games in hand. Michael Bright was the tormentor-in-chief with 4 goals while Mitch Davis weighed in with 2 and Bradley Winzar hitting the other. Draws were the order of the day in the remaining games as Eltham SF and Maroon drew 3-3 with Manny Brown, Charlie Gaish and Sam Woolard scoring for Eltham while Dan Lott scored 2 and Christ Rostek the 3rd for Maroon. Junior Reds Spartans and Danson Albion also drew with Danny Richards and Ali Haydare on target for Spartans as that finished 2-2.
In the First Division, Old Roan Red Lions missed the chance to go top of the table with a shock 3-1 defeat to Mottingham Park Rangers, Alfie Gosnell, Stuart Jordeson and David Ricketts with the goals for Rangers. New London are 4 points back in 3rd spot after a thrilling fightback against Bexley Athletic after going 2-0 down. Goals from Adam Pettit and Elton Lewis put the home side in control, but Arlindo Covington, Tyson Holmes-Lewis and Jason Hammett turned the game on it's head and gave New London the 3 points and leaves them still with a chance of the title. David Coker's goal wasn't enough as FC Plasma drop to 4th after a 2-1 defeat at home to Abbey Wood, who themselves despite being in a lowly 8th spot, are just 10 points off of 2nd spot with 4 games in hand.
In Division Two, a thriller at the top of the table as Junior Reds Athletic hosted leaders Kent Wanderers, and while they managed to keep 52 goal striker Chris McGinty quiet, it was the away side who left with all 3 points after winning by the odd goal in 9. Scott Hollingsworth hit a brace for the leaders while Wilfred Penmani, Ricky Gould and Lee John Sales scored the others. James Beasley, Joe Lattimore, Michael Raphael and Paul Christodoulou were on target for the Reds. In second spot Advent Royals recovered from their defeat last week, to dish out a 6-2 win of their own over Vanbrugh. Lawrence Boamah hit 3 while Eugene kankam Yeboah hit a double for the home side with Daniel Donkor hitting the other. Two goals from Dollard Zola, keep Bayswater RK in touch in 3rd spot as they overcame AFC Kingfisher 4-1, while Luke Cooke scored twice to keep Sutcliffe Rangers in 4th with an outside chance of second spot, after a 3-1 win over Meridian Sports. 7th placed Lessa turned on the style to defeat Mottingham Forest in a 7-1 win, Richard Williams and Harry Fox both scoring twice, and finally Springhill United Reserves creep up to 8th spot after a 3-1 win at Borussia Heath 15. Ashley Care, Moses Omoyuri and Jacob Smale scoring the goals.
The Invitational Cups also kicked off, with Woolwich Spartans of the Senior Division hosting Premier Division Turk Ocagi Limassol Russellers, goals from Jack Oliver and Adam Roberts giving the Senior Division side the first 3 points of the competition.
