Week 26 Update - Sunday 26 February

Goals Galore as Springhill United progress to the Dewar Shield Semis, while Jam's London adventure ends.

In the London FA Sunday Junior Cup Semi Final, Jam found themselves outclassed by a superb Greenhouse London side, crashing out at the Quarter Final stage 5-1.

In Domestic Cup action defences were not the order of the day as Premier Division Springhill United overcame Senior Division Bostall Old Boys Blues by 7 goals to 5. Goals from Patrick Ward (3), Dean Charles, Harry Nelson, Danny Parmenter & Danny Shaw send Springhill into a Semi Final against Sabanoh 97. Also into the Semi Finals are Club Santacruzense De Londres, after goals from Sergiomar Da Silva & Abel Viera gave them a 2-1 win over Eltham Phoenix. They will now host Long Lane in the Semi Final after Long Lane dumped the all conquering Senior Division leaders Woolwich 90 out 5-2 thanks to 2 goals a piece from Steven Smith & Johnny Wright. Both games to be played on the 26th March.

More giant killing exploits in the Plumstead Challenge Cup as Division 2 Bayswater RK beat Division 1 Abbey Wood 3-1 to set up a Semi Final tie against opponents TBC due to the long wait for the outcome of the abandoned 1st round match between Woolwich Spartans and Baldon Sports. Basically Bayswater could face Premier Division Jam, LKSL Premier Division sides Baldon Sports, St Michaels or Welling Town! We are unable to give the goal scorers the credit as Bayswater haven't put details on Full Time!

The Len Wareham Memorial Bowl Semi Final between Advent Royals and Kent Wanderers descended into chaos with the score 5-1 to Kent Wanderers after 81 minutes. Advent Royals Andrew Obayiuwana saw red for comments and gestures towards a spectator, and all his team mates walked off, leaving the match abandoned. Braces from Harvey Kidd and Wilfred Penmeni put Kent Wanderers into the driving seat.

In the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division, 4th placed Footscray Lions fought to a 2-1 win over Junior Reds Seniors with no details added on Full Time, and last season's champions Welling Town fell to their 6th defeat of the season, 3-1 at Turk Ocagi Limassol Russellers. Jason Johns, Nicholas Golding and Oliver Brown on target for the victors who remain 9th.

In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, with the top 2 not in league action, 3rd and 4th went head to head, and it was Danson Albion who started in 4th leapfrogging Cutty Sark (Thamesmead) with a 3-2 win, again Full Time has no details.  5th placed Eltham SF weren't in action again, and 6th placed Woolwich Spartans played out a goalless draw with Maroon XI. Finally the bottom two also faced each other, and it was Junior Reds Spartans who came out on top and lifted themselves off the bottom of the table with a 2-1 victory, Danny Richards and Saihou Saine with the goals.

Division 1 and leaders Old Roan Red Lions remain top after a superb 5-1 win over Bexley Athletic. Sil Benson hitting two while Steve King, Ryan Marton and Daniel Vale were also on target. 2nd placed Woodside Celtic faced bottom side Royal Arsenal and ran out 4-2 winners. Bradley Killick (2), Rob Merone and Jay O'Mara scoring, while Nick Richards and Giuseppe Vammacigno were on target for Royal Arsenal. A hat-trick from Jordan Johnson did most of the damage as Mottingham Park Rangers overcame Woolwich Royals 6-3. Alfie Gosnell, Lois Reven & David Harvey were also on target for Rangers, finally 2 goals from Bradley Shepherd helped Baldon Sports to a 2-1 win over 3rd placed FC Plasma.

In Division Two, with the top 3 in cup action, Junior Reds Athletic missed the chance to move 3rd, with a 1-1 draw against Vanbrugh, who move into 5th. In 7th spot Borussia Heath's Sam Winter decided to do it all by himself, with a 4 goal haul in their 4-0 win at Lessa FXI, while AFC Kingfisher move up to 9th with a 3-0 win over Mottingham Forest. Christopher Peasey, David Scott and Decan Feerick on target for the away side.  Finally Meridian Sports "travelled" to Springhill United Reserves and earned their second point of the season with a 2-2 draw, Justin and Lee Gould with the goals from Meridian Sports, while Jean-Luc Daley scored twice from Springhill.
