We start this week with the London FA Sunday Challenge Cup, and Eltham Phoenix B flying the flag for WESFA, after travelling to Dulwich for a game against Parklife and coming away with a 4-2 win. Chris Grizzle, Danny Russell, Taylor Robinson and Mustafa Karababa all on target to set up a 3rd round visit to Mile End FC. Not so much joy for Sabanoh 97 or Jam who both bowed out 3-2 to FC Cortez and Sporting Continental respectively.
One tie in the Plumstead Challenge Cup saw an upset as Danson Albion disposed of Premier Division Springhill United. Dan Cummings and Ricky Eastman saw Danson progress courtesy of a 2-1 win. Danny Parmenter's goal for Springhill United not enough and it is Danson Albion who progress to the 2nd round and a visit to Jam.
In the Dewar Shield, Senior Division leaders Eltham SF needed extra time to beat Division one Kent Wanderers, Toby Brown put Eltham SF ahead after a goalless first half, but Leon Farrell deservedly equalised for Kent Wanderers to send the game to extra time, but a stunning strike from Tommy Gaish sent Eltham SF through to face Woodside Celtic in round 3. Two goals from John-Jo Bell, plus Jason Hammett and Jerry Reeves strikes saw Senior Division New London progress past Division 3 Lessa FXI. Jam now await New London in round 3. Premier Division St Michaels hosted first division Welling Town in a LKSL reunion, but there were to be no shocks here as Daniel Tarrant scored twice, Stacie Butcher and Daniel Smith once to send St Michaels through 4-1. Joshua Cooper on target for Welling. St Michaels now face Division One Mottingham Park Rangers who progressed courtesy of a victory by the same scoreline against Vanbrugh. Adam Ezrouki scored twice while Jordan Johnson and Esmail El Khabaz were also on target.
One tie in the Alliance Cup saw FC Forza Greenwich make their WESFA Cup debut, but it was shortlived, going out 2-1 after extra time to Maroon XI. Dan Lott and Alex Hyde doing the damage for Maroon, while Shakeel Zuberi scored the consolation.
Into the Amalgamated Lifts Limited Premier Division and a warning of massive proportions was sent out by Club Santacruzense de Londres of their intentions with a shock 8-0 win over former league leaders Orpington Eagles. Vitor Abreu scored a hat-trick, while Marcio Augusto and Joel Ramos both hit doubles with Alessandro Moreira finishing off the goalscorers. Elsewhere Long Lane B made it 2 victories out of 2 with a 2-1 win over Footscray Lions. Steven Smith and Jack Carthy the scorers for Long Lane while Jason Eliot was on target for the Lions.
In the Supreme Engraving Senior Division, Hornfair Athletic closed the gap on leaders Eltham SF with a 5-2 win over Turk Ocagi Limassol Russellers. Four goals from Sam Bailey and one from Lewis Oduku for Hornfair, while Serkan Ozdemir and N'diri N'dili were on target for TOL. Woolwich Spartans missed the chance to go top, going down 3-0 at Woodside Celtic. Jon O'Mara scored twice, and James Tester once so move Woodside to 5th and Spartans drop one to 3rd. Meanwhile Bostall Old Boys and Phoenix Knights shared the points in a 1-1 draw thanks to goals from Matthew Poynton and Andrew Ridgers.
In the Danson Property Services Division One, Abbey Wood are back on form after consectutive 5-1 defeats, with a 3-1 win over third placed Teviot Rangers. Alan Turner and David Bacon among the goals for Abbey Wood while Ryan Jobson was on target for Teviot. Bayswater in 2nd spot are in the midst of an injury crisis, and they met Long Lane A as Lane find their form as well. Jerron Cragg, Ross Gregory and Danny May scored the goals to secure a 3-0 win for Long Lane and make it 4 straight wins for them to send them into 4th spot and highlight them as one of the form sides.
In the ABA Technical Division Two, with the top two not playing, 4th placed Advent Royals close the gap with a 4-3 win over 2nd placed Junior Reds Athletic. Lawrence Boamah scored twice for Royals, with Kelmoy Brown and Rewan Fernandez also on target, while Ben Malyon, Paul Christodoulou and Keelan Farley hit the net for Reds. Eltham Phoenix A are 5th after a 4-1 win over Baldon Sports WESFA, but no records available for Phoenix. Michael Carmen was the scorer for Baldon. The game between Thamesmead and Bexley Athletic was decided by the management committee after Thamesmead failed to contact their opponents about the game.
In the Summerhill Music Third Division, an injury hit Mottingham Forest was not enough to stop Abbeymead's march at the top with an 8-1 win. Adam Soyemi hit a hat-trick, William Afasunwo a brace, while Karlton Lynch, Kevin Pinner and Raqib Williams rounded off the scoring. James Moore hit the consolation for Forest. Nimet Haxiu's hat-trick kept Woolwich Royals hot on Abbeymead's tails with a 5-1 win. Issac Weston and Mirjan Qenani were also on target for Royals, with Billy Hosmer scoring for Baldon. Eltham Lions are up to 4th after Heath were unable to field a side due to illness.
